Joven Clarke

The latest of a long list of players for the kookas [see "About Us" Page] to be signed to a contract with the Parramatta Eels is Joven Clarke who in 1998 played fullback for the Kooka's under 16's. Joven had his best year for the Kookas during '98. Being the Clubs top point scorer with a total of 116 points made up from 17 tries and 24 goals, Joven had a 67% success rate with his goal kicks.

During '98 Joven was also selected to represent Sydney then NSW in the CHS [Combined High School] competition, & was selected in the 1999 Parramatta "Harold Matthews" Team along with Mathew Darke both will be part of the Canley Vale Kookas under 17's campaign when their committment to the Parramatta "Harold Matthews" Team ends for the 99 season in May.
Joven was the top try scorer for 1999 with 11 tries from 9 games.

The year 2000 started well for Joven, winning a spot in the Parramatta S.G.Ball Reps team.
At trials for CHS selections on Monday 21st March Joven was successful in being selected for the Sydney South West Regional team.
The Junior Reps Competition finished on the 29th April with Illawarra winning 28-24 over Penrith. Parramatta were beaten on the bell by Illawarra in the semi final the week before. Joven was againd the top try scorer with 12 tries from 8 games.
Joven was then selected in the Sydney Possible/Probables team to play at Illawarra Stadium Saturday 6th May after this game the NSW under 17's were selected to play a State of Origin game against Queensland under 17's as a curtain raiser to the State of Origin in Brisbane 24th May 2000.

2001: Selected for the second year to play in the S G Ball competition for Parramatta, and again suffering a defeat in the final, this year Joven shared top try scorer with 8 tries from 8 games. At the end of the S G Ball comp Joven went to the Jersey Flegg team [a full season competition] where he scored 12 tries from 10 games.

2002: Saw Joven playing in the Red & Green of the famous South Sydney Rabbitohs on a two year deal. Souths are keen to see Joven utilise his speed to their advantage and have added him to the NRL training squad. However he will no doubt be playing Jersey Flegg/First Division.
After playing 3 games in Jersey Flegg and scoring 3 tries with 6 goals he was moved up to First Division where he played a total of 10 games with 9 tries. Joven made his debut is the top team against West Tigers in a game played at Leichhardt Oval, he played 6 first grade games and scored 4 tries which gave him a total of 16 tries for the 2002 season. At the end of 2002 his contract was up-graded for a further season making him a Rabbitoh till the end of 2004.
There was loads of turmoil at Souths during 2003 which saw coach Craig Coleman replaced by Paul Langmack who made it clear Joven would never play NRL whilst ever he was coach.
