Rugby league club tickled pink to win award

REIGNING Parramatta junior rugby league club of the year, Canley Vale Junior Rugby League Club, has added another string to its bow a pink one at that.

The club won the 2011 Women In League Round award for the best grassroots activity at their home ground.

The Kookas celebrated the contribution of women to the game with a sea of pink at Adams Park during the Women In League round in June.

Pink roses, pink food, pink hats, pink scarves, pink cupcakes well, you get the idea. And as expected the club was tickled pink to win the award.

"It is great to be recognised for the work we did," secretary Valarie Uilou said.

"It was quite a shock to get the phone call to say we had won.

"On the day we sold a whole heap of pink food, gave free tea and coffee out to the ladies. A pink rose was given out to all ladies that visited our ground as well as many of our volunteers dressing in pink."

The club will receive a $1000 Harvey Norman gift card for its outstanding efforts

With thanks
