THE Canley Vale Kookas Rugby League Club claims an illustrious record. President Noel Clarke believes the Kookas sponsorship deal with Richard's on the Park is not only beneficial to the club, but also the longest standing in the history of junior sport.
For 46 years, the hotel, formerly known as the Kookaburra Hotel, has had its name printed on the front and back of the green and white jerseys of the Kookas.
``They're contribution to the club has been exceptional over the years,'' Clarke said.
``I put the challenge out there to all the sporting clubs.
``Has anyone ever had a sponsor for more than 46 years?''
Clarke is extremely proud and honoured to still have the same sponsors since the day the club first began.
``Loyalty isn't a common trait in sport today, that is what makes it even greater,'' he said.
The Kookas have developed some exceptional talent over the years, including rugby league internationals Michael Buettner and Michael Vella
